$25 permit?! Ah comon!

City Council Approves Fireworks Ban

The Honolulu City Council on Wednesday afternoon voted 7-2 to approve a ban on consumer fireworks.The fireworks ban is set to begin on Jan. 2, 2011. The ban would not allow fountains, sparklers and other novelty fireworks.Consumers could purchase firecrackers with a $25 permit. The permit would allow for the purchase of 5,000 firecrackers.That would be allowed for New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Chinese New Years, July 4th and religious and cultural events.
