Fire crews rescue dog from trail

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Firefighters got an unusual call Monday morning. A dog that was accompanying hikers on the Hawaii Loa Ridge Trail above Hawaii Kai slipped and fell about 10 or 15 feet.

The hikers were about a mile into the three-and-a-half mile trail when the animal slipped around 10:00 AM. The dog was not hurt in the fall, but was unable to climb back up to the trail.

With assistance from the Air One helicopter, rescuers were able to locate the dog and bring it back on the trail, where it was reunited with the hikers.
