Whew...that was a close one.

Flood watch cancelled as storm departs

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Calmer weather is in the forecast statewide as a storm system that brought heavy rain, thunderstorms, high winds and Big Island snow moves east, away from the islands.

The storm system brought some impressive rainfall totals for the northern half of the state, especially between Thursday morning and 9 a.m. Friday. According to the National Weather Service, here are some of the higher totals, in inches:

Kauai:

  • Puu Opae 7.98
  • Puu Lua 5.31
  • Waimea Heights 4.49
  • Opaekaa Stream 2.89
  • Princeville Airport 2.86
  • Waialae 2.59
  • Kilohana 2.34

Oahu:

  • Kii 3.70
  • Kahuku Training Area 3.00
  • Oahu Forest National Wildlife Refuge 2.63
  • Dillingham Airfield 2.50
  • Waiawa Correctional Facility 2.50
  • Poamoho Experimental Farm 2.43
  • Waianae Valley 2.33
  • Bellows AFS 2.27

Molokai:

  • Molokai #1 2.70

Lanai:

  • Lanai Airport 3.03
